What does an authorized representative do?

When an employer designates a representative, that person physically examines the documents the employee presents and completes the employer portion of the form as instructed by the employer. The employer remains responsible for the process and for the completed form.

Do you decide whether someone can work?

No. Up North Solutions does not determine employment eligibility and does not choose which documents an employee should present. Those decisions belong to the employer and the employee.

Can you meet the employee near them?

We schedule appointments within our confirmed travel zone in Chicago and nearby suburbs. Tell us the employee's location and we will confirm whether we can meet there.

What should the employee bring?

The original documents required by the employer's I-9 process, plus any instructions or forms the employer provided for the appointment.

How quickly can this be scheduled?

It depends on the appointment window and location. Send your request with a preferred date and time and we will confirm availability in writing.
