How state apostille works
- 1Submit your documents and destination country through the secure intake form.

- 3You receive a written quote. Illinois pricing is fixed; out-of-state and mixed requests are quoted after review.
- 4Once payment clears, we prepare cover forms and submit to the correct Secretary of State office.
- 5The state processes and attaches the apostille or certificate of authentication.
- 6We confirm completion and return your documents by your chosen tracked shipping method.
What affects your final quote
- Issuing state and that state's fee schedule
- Document type and whether a certified copy is required
- Destination country and whether legalization is needed instead of an apostille
- Number of documents in the same request
- Notarization or certification steps still outstanding
- Courier requirements, return shipping, and your deadline
Document review
A brief initial eligibility screen is free. A detailed document review is $25.00, credited toward your apostille service when you place the qualifying order. Government processing time and shipping time are separate, and acceptance decisions belong to the receiving party.

State apostille questions
Which documents go through a state apostille office?
Documents issued by a U.S. state, county, court, or school, and documents notarized by a U.S. notary public. The apostille must come from the state connected to the document, not the state you live in.
My document is from another state. Can you still help?
Yes. We are not limited to Illinois. Out-of-state documents follow that state's requirements and fee schedule, so pricing is confirmed after document review. Illinois pricing does not automatically apply to another state.
How is Illinois pricing calculated?
$150.00 for the first eligible Illinois document and $60.00 for each additional Illinois document in the same request. Secretary of State fees are included. Return shipping, translation, and expedited handling are quoted separately.
Do I need a certified copy or the original?
It depends on the document and the receiving country. Vital records normally require a recent certified copy from the issuing office. We confirm this during review before anything is submitted.
How long does it take?
Our handling is prompt, but the state controls processing time and it varies by office and season. We give you the current expectation at quote time and update you as your order moves.
