FBI Background Check Apostille
The most requested federal document is the FBI background check, officially the FBI Identity History Summary. It is part of this federal service, not a general consumer background check. We can assist with the request, capture fingerprints if they are still needed, and move the result through federal authentication.
Same federal pricing applies: $250.00 for the first document and $150.00 for each additional federal document.
Common reasons customers need it
- International employment and work permits
- Residency and immigration document requirements
- Visa-related documentation
- Citizenship-related documentation
- Foreign licensing and professional registration
- International adoption requirements
How the FBI summary is handled
- 1Tell us your destination country and deadline, or start your order in the secure portal.
- 2If you still need fingerprints, we capture an ink or electronic set that meets FBI submission standards.
- 3The FBI Identity History Summary is requested through an approved submission path.
- 4We review the returned summary to confirm it is in an authenticatable form.
- 5The summary is submitted to the U.S. Department of State for federal authentication.
- 6If your destination is not a Hague member, we coordinate embassy or consulate legalization.
- 7We confirm completion and return your documents by tracked shipping.
Looking for a domestic background check for hiring, housing, or volunteering? That is a different service, see background screening. Need fingerprints only? Ink fingerprinting is booked separately.

Federal apostille questions
Which documents need federal authentication?
Documents issued by a U.S. federal agency. These never go through a state apostille office, they are authenticated by the U.S. Department of State.
How is federal pricing calculated?
$250.00 for the first eligible federal document and $150.00 for each additional federal document in the same request. Requests that mix federal and state documents are quoted after review with no automatic discount.
Is same-day federal apostille available?
No. Federal processing is controlled by the U.S. Department of State and expedited availability depends on the options the agency has in place at the time. We do not guarantee government completion dates.
Will my destination country accept an apostille?
Hague Convention member countries accept an apostille. Non-member countries require embassy or consulate legalization, which adds steps, fees, and time. We confirm your pathway during review.
Is the FBI background check apostille a general consumer background check?
No. It authenticates an FBI Identity History Summary for use by an authority outside the United States. For domestic hiring, housing, or volunteer screening, see our separate background screening service.
Do I need fingerprints taken again for the FBI summary?
Only if you do not already have a valid submission on file or your channeler requires a fresh set. We capture prints locally when needed so you are not sent to a second vendor.
Do you handle the embassy or consulate step?
We coordinate it where the destination requires legalization. Requirements vary by consulate and are quoted separately after review.
